KT Rama Rao; the Mastermind behind a Marvellous New Hyderabad

“Leadership is the capacity to translate a vision into reality,” famous American scholar Warren G Bennis said once. This quote aptly summarises how the city of Hyderabad transformed, under the energetic leadership of Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao, fondly and more popularly called KTR.

Serving the departments of Municipal Administration & Urban Development, Industries & Commerce, and Information Technology of Telangana, KTR has played a very big role in shaping Hyderabad into the dynamic city and investment hub that it is now.

Under his watchful eyes, Hyderabad is transforming into a global business city built on a solid foundation of IT/ITeS, biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors.

The Beginning

The people of Telangana caught a proper glimpse of his efficient leadership during the Telangana Movement.

Soon after the bifurcation and State formation, KTR embarked on a journey to make his vision of turning Hyderabad into a global city come true. The young leader was also awarded the Most Inspirational Icon of the Year 2015 by CNN-IBN.

The Transformation

KTR has helmed numerous large-scale projects to realise his dream of a progressive Hyderabad. He opened the door to countless start-ups and entrepreneurship activities in the city.

The most remarkable milestone with regard to this is the T-Hub, one of the biggest start-up incubators in the country. According to t-hub.co, ever since being established in 2015, T-Hub has facilitated access to better technology, talent, mentors, customers, corporations, investors and government agencies for a whopping 1,100+ national and international start-ups.

Soaring Higher!

With his team, KTR successfully toured the USA and held rewarding meetings with industry leaders and corporate giants like John Chambers of Cisco, Mark Hurd of Oracle, John Veihmeyer of KPMG and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, inviting them to collaborate with the Government of Telangana on a diverse range of projects across sectors.

Under his guidance, Hyderabad became home to four of the top five, most valued tech companies' largest offices outside the USA; Apple, Google, Microsoft and Amazon.

The Google development centre boasts of an outlay of Rs 1,000 crores and Amazon, a second Fulfilment Centre larger than the existing one. The boom this caused in the real estate sector is huge.

A Brand New Hyderabad

These developments are some of the most remarkable among many. The city continues to grow every day, not just in terms of sectors but in terms of its looks as well, with giant flyovers, expansive metro rail network and other innovative landscaping developments. And with a leader like KTR, Hyderabad can rest assured to scale many more heights in all the coming years.
